Mike, the suburban farmer, has been a real ‘companion on the way’ to learning about fish farms, sustainability and keeping chickens in suburbia. He installed our fish farm system and worked with us to set us up with chickens, and has been a great teacher and coach in the process. We appreciate his on-going support – he even came and ran a little session – complete with arrival of the yabbies - for our son’s kindy class. Now we have a great hobby, fresh eggs, relaxing sounds of chooks and running water in our backyard. We can’t recommend him highly enough.

You must get so much satisfaction out of your job – setting up for people everywhere and watching them get into healthy food and lifestyles. So rewarding - congratulations on an excellent business.

We have the little egg basket all ready to go down and collect tomorrow (hopefully). I’m so excited I just want to go down to the chooks in the dark and watch them sleeping. We’ll keep in touch and let you know how the ladies get on!

I’m a fishing tragic and was curious when I heard that I could grow my own edible fish in my backyard.  I have had a number of repeat home veggie patch failures so I was even more curious to hear the the filter system included a veggie patch.  Well I haven't bought a tomato in months as I have  fresh tomatoes in plague proportions, so many that I am having to give them away to family and friends.  I have also had seasons of barramundi and trout, complimented by marron all year round.

Mike was always able to provide advice on the best vegetables to plant and when to put in and harvest fish.   Suburban Farmer delivered new season fish straight to the tank and provided fish food whenever I needed it.  While I still hear and read about others attempting this alone without the right advice and without tried and tested systems and failing - my system seems to be getting stronger by the season with almost no effort thanks to everything I've learned from Mike.  If you're thinking about getting one just do it - you won't regret it.

I wanted to write in to say that we are so happy with the chicken house and chickens. I thought that maybe the kids would tire of looking after the chooks but I have no shortage of helpers and the other day my neighbours child knocked on the door to ask if he could help collect the eggs! Love it!

We moved into our house 2 years ago with grand plans of growing our our fruits and vegetables. We had a few lemons come from our lemon tree and some olives and one orange came from our orange tree, in other words a very expensive orange! We wanted a vegetable garden but were worried that we would have a similar lack of success so we called in Mike from Suburban Farmer for some advice. Mike had plenty of ideas for improving our struggling fruit trees and provided us with some very creative ideas to get started with our vegie garden. We went ahead with the veggie garden and we are wrapped with the results. We have started taking lettuce leaves and spinach and this summers vegetables are already planted. Thanks Mike for helping us get it all going and the orange tree looks better already!
