Reading the Signs of Creation: Nature’s Seasonal Language in Perth
We can read the newspapers and books, we can even read tea leaves and blogs like this one. But how many of us can read the Signs Of Creation and what are they? Short answer is that everyone can! And the signs are the flowing mystic movements of Blessed Mumma and Pappa Earth/Nature aka the spiraling, cycling signals of the non-stop pulse of LIFE. We just have to learn what to look for and how to tune back into LIFE.
Perth has some amazing seasons. We are usually alerted to these changes as we are most significant dates, times and events. By a numerical/chronological pictorial calander. Easy to see where and when in the year we are at with one glance and you do not even have to go outdoors. However, there is one major flaw in this. Nature does not care or Man’s calenders.
They are a new age invention so to speak. So, some might be asking, how did the Elders and Ancients do it before us? They saw everything with their eyes that was revealed in its time, at its time, from this time until that time. Meaning, all the seasonal information they needed was provided in real time by the small and large movements of Creation.
These signals also show the remarkable interconnectivity we all share as a whole. We are a part of Nature not apart from Nature as science and man’s modernity suggests.
From the smallest smell of Petrichor signaling incoming rain. Have you ever noticed the leaves dropping just before Winter? Buds swelling and the emerging leaflets proudly showing Spring is on its way? The Dragonflies and the hoverflies a few days before a major heat wave? The dew on the ground and the yellowing of leaves as we enter the depths of Winter? The warm days and cold nights, open skies and chirping crickets letting us know Summer is on the horizon? Aphids etc infesting our vegetation followed closely by the predators. The greenish red blush of a tomato fruit will soon become a lush red saying, hey pick me I am ready? The smell of salt in the air means the coast is close. The flowering Brazilian pepper plant means the wild mustard will be flowering soon which means the wattles will forward, followed by the bottle brushes. Which also means that the partnering animals and insects will be getting ready to give birth and Springtime is here. This consequently also means that Magpie season is starting.
This is just a small example of what I see here in Perth. All of these lives are intertwined. Yes, you can read about these signals, but the real best way to learn this ancient art is to actively participate in observations. Noting them down. Adding experiences, smells, textures, tastes and sounds to visual signs. So why don’t you stop, smell the roses and be a participant not just a spectator, in learning to love to read The Book of Life.
